Abstract

Utilization of Sniffer Dogs (K-9) in the Investigation of Narcotics Crimes at the Directorate of Enforcement and Pursuit of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), where the implementing unit falls under the Deputy for Eradication of the BNN, in accordance with its duties, functions, and authority in handling narcotics issues. The strategic role of the Directorate of Enforcement and Pursuit of the Deputy for Eradication of the BNN is to promote P4GN (National Drug and Crime Prevention and Eradication) by professionally pursuing and pursuing Operational Targets (TO) and Wanted Persons (DPO) involved in narcotics syndicates, narcotics precursors, and money laundering (TPPU). Sniffer dogs (K-9) play a crucial role in the investigation of narcotics crimes at the Directorate of Enforcement and Pursuit of the BNN. Sniffer dogs (K-9) assist investigators in detecting drugs hidden in various locations, utilizing their extraordinary sense of smell. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) continues to strive to improve the capabilities of its sniffer dogs and handlers through training and breeding, as well as collaborating with other countries to share experiences and knowledge. Therefore, sniffer dogs (K-9) are a valuable asset in the BNN's efforts to eradicate narcotics, assist in early detection, and improve the effectiveness of investigations. Obstacles encountered by sniffer dogs (K-9) during the investigation phase when searching for evidence in narcotics crimes include the dogs' limited sense of smell, a shortage of sniffer dogs, and a lack of supporting facilities and infrastructure. Furthermore, environmental factors such as weather conditions and the location of the search can also be obstacles.
